What is speech therapist or speech language pathologist?
A speech therapist also known as speech-language pathologist (SLP) works with children and adults on communicating with speech devices or speaking with their natural voices. Speech Therapist work with adult/children who cannot generate speech sounds or cannot produce/pronounce them clearly; those with speech rhythm & fluency problems, such as stuttering; people with voice disorders, such as inappropriate pitch or harsh voice; those with problems understanding and producing language; and those with cognitive communication impairments, such as attention, memory and problem solving disorders. Speech therapist/Slp also work with people who have swallowing difficulties.
